My 12 year old daughter had intermittent neck, shoulder and back pain. It was worse at night and so was interfering with sleep. She had it for almost one year before coming to the Fitzwilliam clinic for chiropractic care. She saw immediate improvement after the first session. Everything felt instantly looser and after only 3 weeks there was a noticeable improvement and the pain did not wake her up at night. Dr. Gemma Bailey has a very professional, friendly, open, warm and caring manner and explained everything on a chart to my daughter in a way that she could relate to. She gave her reasons and explanations as to exactly what was going on and how she would treat her as well as how long it would take. She relates to children very well. Before coming to the Fitzwilliam Clinic, my daughter had back pain for almost one year and many physio and osteopath treatments that did not help. In the end, Chiropractic Care made the difference. It got sorted in a relatively short period of time. Now she goes once a month for maintenance.

Fitzwilliam Health Clinic and in particular Amanda Hughes were paramount to my success in delivering a healthy baby girl. Having experienced a very difficult pregnancy I honestly believe that without Amanda's intervention and care, things could have been very different. I had tried acupuncture before and wasn't particularly impressed and struggled to see any tangible benefits. What sets Amanda apart is her earnest dedication and genuine interest in her clients well being. She continuously goes the extra mile and never once makes you feel rushed or under any type of pressure, in fact all too often it felt as though she was there for my benefit alone - such is her skill at putting you at ease and I trust her impeccably. Through a customised diet plan and a variety of acupuncture techniques I received relief from a whole host of ailments and more importantly our baby grew healthy and strong - I genuinely credit Amanda for ensuring we got through a worrying pregnancy with as little stress as possible and a wonderfully happy outcome. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Amanda (in fact I have already to all of my friends!) if you are pregnant with or without complications - you won't regret it........if for nothing else a go under the heat lamps is well worth it!! Like for so many mothers, having my 3 beautiful sons has been the most important phase of my life so far. After experiencing problems with pre-eclampsia resulting in premature delivery on my first two pregnancies, I searched for solutions to help me to prepare for and support me through the pregnancy of my third. Finding The Fitzwilliam Health Clinic team and Amanda was worth the weight of our third son Olly’s weight in gold! For the 6 – 8 months leading up to the conception of Olly I regularly went to Amanda and in that time my health improved dramatically.
Before attending Amanda I was continuously tired and cold, I also had sore feet and thumbs and now looking back at photos my face was puffy – all this I had put down to normal life changes. Through visiting Amanda and learning more about Chinese medicine I realised that this was not normal!! Over a few months the aches in my feet and hands disappeared I was less puffy and am now never cold. I also had very sore dried skin on my toes – it was there for years - Amanda explained it was due to damp and in two sessions (and one needle in the toe!!!) the dry skin disappeared.
Through this time my menstrual cycle was although regular was not normal and through the acupuncture sessions and the use of the herbs I started regulating my periods and my ovulation – arising in the conception of Olly.
Although my pregnancy was not plain sailing – Amanda countered and balanced everything that was thrown her way and helped me to balance the rest of my life outside of her clinic to help me delay the onset of the pre-eclampsia. Through this use of a perfect blend of herbs and acupuncture supplied by the clinic, I managed to keep the required balance in my body necessary to ensure that our third son went closest to full-term, resulting in a higher birth weight and healthier baby that came home with us from the hospital earlier than our first 2 boys!
Not only did Amanda help me manage my physical well-being through this time but her added-value mental support was undoubtedly a central contributor to getting the perfect result we have today in Olly. Beyond these shorter-term benefits, the whole experience has provided me with a better understanding of how to manage my health and wellbeing that will stand to me for the rest of my life. I also fully intend to continue to use Amanda and the clinic when and where the need arises in my life to keep me at the optimum health.
