Male Fertility

Male Fertility

Male infertility now accounts for 42% of infertility cases. The cause of this decline in male fertility has been linked to increased exposure to environmental pollutants. However alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, stress, poor diet and other health related factors may be factors in poor sperm health.

Treatments in both Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are effective in increasing sperm motility, morphology and sperm counts.

It is adviseable to have a 3 month course of treatment for male infertility when trying to conceive as this is theapproximate time it can take for sperm to mature. Amanda may treat you with both Acupuncture and herbs depending on your Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis .

22 patients with idiopathic male infertility, who failed icsi, were treated with Acupuncture twice weekly for 8 weeks. A repeat icsi treatment showed that thesperm concentration, motility, morphology, fertilisation rates and consequent embryo quality were improved. The normal sperm ratio was increased after acupuncture. J. Huangzhong Iniv. Sc. Technol. Med. Sci. 2002 , 22 (3) : 228-30

16 patients with sub fertility due to poor sperm motility were treated with Acupuncture twice a week for 5 weeks and compared with a control group. The sperm motility and axonema was greatly increased in thestudy group. Siterman S, Eltes F., Wolfson V., Zabludovsky N, Bartoov B.

A study was carried out on 54 men with sub-fertility. They were given 1-3 months of Acupuncture treatments, sperm analysis was carried out before and after treatment

55.5 % of patients impregnated their partners during that period of time and 24% showed significant improvement in sperm quality. 20% of patients previously diagnosed with azoospermia and immune disturbance, did not experience improvement. The greatest improvement was seen in patients with abnormal sperm.
